Tips to make your iPhone battery last longer
/iPhones are great… well, until they run out of power. It can be a frustrating situation, especially when you can’t find anywhere to plug it in to charge. The Digital Trend has just released 25 tips on how you can make your iPhone last longer. Here are some of our favourite tips, as well as a link to the full article:
1. Low Power Mode
Available in iOS 9 and later updates, the Low Power Mode makes saving power easy. You probably already have this turned on, as the iPhone will prompt you when you reach 20% power. If you don’t, you can enable it by going to Settings, Battery, and Low Power Mode. When in Low Power Mode, you will have reduced functions, such as No Siri, No Automatic updates, and others until your able to charge the device.
2. Reduce Screen Brightness
The brilliant screen happens to drain battery power at a faster rate than any other feature, where the brighter it is, the faster power is consumed. You can change this by going to Settings, Wallpaper & Brightness, and turning Auto-Brightness off. After this, you can set the brightness to the lowest level that works for you.
3. Turn off Automatic Downloads
Your iPhone is most likely set to automatically update download data, including Music, Apps, as well as iOS updates, but it consumes a fair amount of your battery life. Just by turning the automatic updates off, you will be saving plenty of power, especially if you update your apps on your own schedule. You can also enable these updates to happen only when you’re in a Wi-Fi zone, which will help to conserve power. You can do this by going to Settings, iTunes & App Store, and turning Cellular Data off.
4. Switch to Airplane Mode
If you don’t need to use the internet, make calls for a while, or just happen to be in a terrible signal area, then Airplane mode might be the best choice to help save power. While in airplane mode, you won’t receive any signals, and will conserve power until you need to make calls again or need internet access.
5. Download ahead of time
Many streaming services these days give you the option to download music or videos for offline viewing and listening. If you’re streaming on your cellular data, it will drastically consume battery life, as well as eat up your data. If you can, use your Wi-Fi to steam, or just download the content at home before you set out.
6. Get an External Battery pack or case
If you really need to improve the battery life of your phone, then you should definitely invest in one of the many battery packs or cases designed to add more hours to your iPhone’s life. This will come in handy for those who can’t get to a charger in time.
