Every now and then we receive unwanted calls. whilst you can indeed not answer the the call, that happens to be just as annoying. Instead if you are using an Android phone, you can block these unknown numbers.

Unknown Number

This tip will show you how to block calls from unknown numbers. What exactly does an Unknown Number mean? Essentially, this will block any call from a Private or unknown number. Private and unknown numbers show on your phone as a caller ID without a phone number listed. This won’t block calls from regular numbers however.

Block unknown calls on Google Phone

First you will need to download the app “Phone by Google”
You can download this app from the Google Play Store, and set it as the default dialer
Once the app has been downloaded, “Phone by Google” will ask to be set as default.
If you miss this, you can set the default by heading to Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Phone App
Open the “Phone by Google” App > Tap on Menu (3 dots) in the right corner > Settings > Blocked Numbers > Toggle the switch to ON.
That’s it. On Google Phone you won’t receive any more private/unknown numbers.

Block unknown calls on Samsung Phone

On Samsung, its a similar process using the default phone app
Open the phone app > Tap on Menu (3 dots) in the right corner > Settings > Blocked Numbers > block unknown/private to ON.
