How to uninstall apps on your MacBook

Its quite easy to do, you downloaded an app such as Microsoft Office, Google Maps etc as you thought it would be useful or fun, but you end up never using the app as you forgot about it, something better came out, or have just decided that its time for the particular app to go. Fortunately the process of uninstalling an app from your MacBook is quite easy. The method for uninstalling depends on if the app was downloaded from the App store, or if it was downloaded from the internet. Here is how.

Uninstall Apps that you downloaded from the App Store

  • To uninstall apps that come from the App store, click on the Launchpad button on your Dock (Symbol looks like a Spaceship)

  • Click and Hold on any App until all icons start to shake. 

  • Find the App you want to delete and click the X button.

Uninstall Apps downloaded from the Internet

  • Any app that comes from the internet will need to be removed by using Finder

  • click on Finder on your Dock (Big Smiley face icon)

  • click on Applications from the left side menu

  • locate the app you want to uninstall 

  • drag the app into your Trash Box

  • alternatively you can right click on the app and select “Move to trash”

  • To delete simply empty the Trash box.
